Hong Kong singer-actor Ronald Cheng secretly married girlfriend Sammie Yu on July 22, 2011, 10 days after she gave birth to a baby girl, Hong Kong media reported on September 6, 2011.

The 38-year-old actor announced the news during a promotional event for his new film “Treasure Hunt” in Hong Kong, adding that he plans to hold a wedding banquet when their daughter turns one.

Cheng is very secretive about his personal life. He even kept his first marriage to Charlene Choi a secret until they divorced in March 2010.

The production company responsible for the urban comedy “Marry a Perfect Man” held a grand press conference at the Beijing Workers’ Stadium on June 29.

Hosted by actress and anchor Jiang Xiaohan, Hong Kong director Wang Jing took to the stage to introduce star-studded cast members to the audience including Chapman To, Bao Qijing, Feng Cuifan, Liu Yan, Mao Junjie, Hu Ran and Tian Xilei.

The press conference reached a crescendo when female lead GiGi Leung Wing Kei and male lead Ronald Cheng drove spectacular racing cars on to the site and separately emerged from two Lamborghinis. Following this, the audience witnessed a romantic moment as Ronald knelt down to make a staged proposal to GiGi, with one hand holding an extra large diamond ring.

“Actually I didn’t say yes. We need to shoot the film for a while and see whether he is a perfect man,” Hong Kong actress GiGi joked.

Just like the recent historical epic “The Founding of a Party”, the film will include dozens of renowned stars.

Backed by the Beijing ZhongMeng Century Investment company, the film tells the story of a recently-dumped woman (portrayed by GiGi Leung) and a rich businessman (portrayed by Ronald Cheng) from Hong Kong. After coming out of a seven-year relationship, the girl accidentally meets the wealthy businessman and falls in love with him.

The shooting is currently taking place in Beijing, but will later move to Hong Kong. The film is expected to be released at the end of the year.
