Ge You’s Three Films Anticipate US$150 Million in Revenue

Renowned actor Ge You’s three films “Zhao’s Orphan,” “Let the Bullets Fly” and “If You Are the One 2″ will open in China by the end of 2010, Ifeng.com reports.

According to the report, the total box office revenue for the three films could reach 1 billion yuan (nearly US$150 million).

Directed by award-winning director Chen Kaige and co-staring Ge You and Wang Xueqi, “Zhao’s Orphan” aims to make 500 million yuan (US$74 million) in ticket sales.

The film tells the story of a rural doctor who sacrifices his own son to save the newborn baby of Zhao Dun, the chancellor of the Jin Kingdom (679 B.C.-403 B.C.) whose entire family is executed because of political slander.

Ge You has been well-loved by Chinese audiences for his performances in comedic films such as “If You Are the One” (2008), “A World Without Thieves” (2004) and “Big Shot’s Funeral” (2001).

Ge will once again be in a comedic role playing a cheater in “Let the Bullets Fly” along with co-star Jiang Wen, who is also directing the film, and Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-fat.

“Ge You is a champion of the cheaters,” Jiang was quoted as saying. “And it’s very funny that he catches himself in his own trap at the end of the film.”

“If You Are the One 2″ by director Feng Xiaogang and starring Ge You will also finish shooting and be released at the end of the year. The first “If You Are the One” movie made 340 million yuan (about US$50 million) at box offices in 2008.

“Let the Bullets Fly” and “Zhao’s Orphan” will hit screens on December 16 and 18, respectively. The opening date of “If You Are the One 2″ has yet to be released.
